Pregnant Woman in Nature

About Me

I am a birth and postnatal doula trained by BirthBliss Academy in 2020.

I am a wife, a mother of three beautiful children and one fur baby. Some of my hobbies include baking, astrology, staying up late learning about whatever pops in my head and spending hours trying my hand at new things. I love being outside, walking, going on adventures and making memories. I love reading and learning about anything to do with birth, nature, history, tradition and women's journeys.

This work is my purpose and my passion!

My Journey To Here

I was never one of the kids that had big dreams of a big career. For me, becoming a mother was always enough for me. I have always loved motherhood and caring for others. Before I knew what a doula was, I wanted to help mothers in the postpartum period and be of service at a time when a lot of women are struggling with the transition to motherhood. Losing that freedom, self and identity can be challenging. When I had my first child at 20, I felt isolated, lonely and didn’t have family around me to help. I wanted to be able to be there for someone else in that difficult time.

By the time I was having my third child, things were different. I knew more, I had experience and I felt confident in making choices for the birth I truly wanted, not what I had ‘read’ or been ‘advised’ was the best choice for me.

I planned a water birth at home. I wanted it to be as unassisted as possible. I was aware that it may not unfold that way but I felt empowered knowing it was my birth the way I wanted. On the night she decided to arrive, I laboured in the comfort of my own home. My husband filled the pool and I felt held and supported by the cool waters. Hours later, when the midwife came, she filled in her paperwork and watched for the signs but otherwise left me alone. I was focused and relaxed. I was in my zone; my body knew what it was doing and I surrendered to it. The lack of medical intervention even from the midwife didn’t feel scary, it felt right. I was fully supported yet not supported at all. It was a magical feeling. As the time approached where she was coming, my midwife simply said “make sure you catch her when she comes out”. I was in awe but at the same time felt this immense power. It felt primal and instinctive. It felt real, like this is what birth should feel like. As I caught her and put her to my chest, a rush of emotion and pure love but a sense of achievement and pride that I had not felt with my other births. I knew I had experienced something few get to experience in this lifetime but I knew that I wanted as many women as possible to be able to experience what I felt that morning.

After this experience, becoming a doula ignited a fire in me to help women reclaim birth and motherhood. This time can be intense and challenging but it can also be beautiful, powerful and life changing. As for me, it can be as simple as having a positive birth experience where you are seen, heard and honoured in the birth that you choose.

I've always heard that when you find a job you love, it won't feel like work. Becoming a birth coach and doula drives me and gives me purpose! I love supporting women and being by their side during one of the most transformational moments of their lives.
